Ruth Hodges, a native South Carolinian, is Interim Dean of Library and Information Services at South Carolina State University. She earned two Masters Degrees from Atlanta University and a doctorate from Florida State University. Her studies in the life, physical, and social sciences facilitated her employment at the Smithsonian Institution, National Academy of Sciences, Moorland Spingarn Research Center, and as a Contract Indexer. Some of her published works include biographical articles in Notable African American Women, Notable Black American Men, and Notable Women in the Physical Sciences: A Biographical Dictionary. Her travels have taken her to Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe.
