South Carolina State University has contributed to Project STAND by providing access to their materials on the Orangeburg Massacre.  The Orangeburg massacre was an event that occurred on the campus of South Carolina State University on February 8, 1968, when several protesters were shot and killed by highway patrol officers during a protest against racial segregation. Three of the protestors, African American males, were killed and twenty-seven other protesters were injured. The collection is comprised mostly of FBI reports, Federal Court transcripts, news clippings, and oral histories. There are several other sources related to the massacre that are found in other collections within the archives such as photographs, letters from students to the Lt. Governor of SC in the aftermath, scrapbooks, etc.
